DR. DAGMARA BEINE
Welcome. My name is Dagmara Beine. I am a Masters Degree Physician Assistant and PhD practicing Functional and Integrative Medicine.
It wasn’t until my daughter was diagnosed with cancer that I learned the real value of Integrative Medicine.
We always considered ourselves a “healthy” family. We ate well and understood the value of organic and whole clean food. I thought we were doing everything right. So it turned my world upside down when my daughter Zuza, at 3.5 years old, was diagnosed with cancer and was given a very poor prognosis.
Having worked in Emergency medicine for 12 years, I understood the value of western medicine and how it could save my daughter’s life. However, as we moved through her treatment and recovery, I was shocked at how western medicine failed to care for Zuza as a whole person.
I knew as a mother and clinician that I needed to incorporate other tools to guide Zuza through treatment and help her thrive as a cancer survivor. I began to search the world for tools that would help my daughter. I used integrative practitioners across the world to incorporate nutrition, supplements, detoxification and mindfulness into Zuza’s recovery. I am convinced that these integrative tools are the reason Zuza is thriving today.
I felt a powerful pull by the Universe to change my career and help guide other families to incorporate integrative medicine into their lives, so they could experience the tremendous benefits we have.
I have no doubt it was again these incredible tools that helped support Zuza in her second fight with leukemia and bone marrow transplant. This time, fiver years had gone by and I was more prepared than ever to support Zuza on her journey to healing.
For us it was cancer but for you it may be fatigue, chronic pain, eczema, migraines, IBS or hundreds of other dis-ease processes that all have a root cause. When you identify the root cause you can also then take natural steps to finally heal.
Now I see how beautifully Integrative Medicine fits into truly preventing sickness and healing the whole person, by making use of all therapeutic approaches including most importantly what we put into our body. Understanding that in order for nutrition to work we must first have a gut that works and will absorb the nutrients and a liver that works well in order to detoxify any of the thousands of chemicals introduced daily from our western lifestyle. Mindfulness often disregarded the most by western medicine is one of the most important tools we used to heal not just Zuza but our entire family.
Functional medicine emphasizes “patient care” rather than “disease care” and deals with primary prevention and underlying causes rather than just masking symptoms. My approach to your health starts with preventative care. Disease takes a long time to form. We do not go from being completely healthy to sick overnight. It takes an average of 10 years for most diseases to develop.
Preventative medicine steps into your life and help reverse the disease formation. I work with individuals who are committed to taking charge of their health. I will be your medical consultant, lifestyle coach and health educator in order to teach and empower you in your quest for optimal health. Through a thorough medical assessment, an understanding of your individual goals and an analysis of your current health, I will help you create health strategies that will last a lifetime.
